YSS – Yash Sewa Samiti

Sowing Seeds of Sustainability – Vegetable Plantation on Annual Day 3 on September, 2019.

On the occasion of Annual Day, Yash Sewa Samiti took a green initiative by organizing a Vegetable Plantation Drive in the premises of MCD School, Old Uttam Nagar with Eco Club students ,members of Senior Citizens Organization of YSS and Principal Ram Kumar Gupta ji. This thoughtful effort aimed to connect children with nature, promote organic living, and introduce the concept of kitchen gardening and self-sustainability.

What We Planted:

With the help of teachers, students, and volunteers, saplings of seasonal vegetables such as:

  • Tomatoes
  • Spinach (Palak)
  • Brinjal (Baingan)
  • Coriander (Dhaniya)
  • Bottle Gourd (Lauki)
were carefully planted in the school garden area using eco-friendly methods.

Children participated enthusiastically — digging, watering, and learning how vegetables grow from soil to plate.

Impact:

  •  Created awareness among children about nutrition, farming, and environmental responsibility.
  •  Encouraged the idea of organic and healthy eating through homegrown vegetables.
  •  Strengthened school-community bonding as students, teachers, and YSS volunteers worked together.
  •  Instilled a sense of environmental stewardship and sustainability among young minds.
  •  Established a living classroom where children could observe, learn, and nurture plants daily.

Message from Yash Sewa Samiti:
“Every plant we sow is a promise for a greener, healthier tomorrow. Teaching children to grow food is teaching them self-reliance and respect for nature.”

This Annual Day wasn’t just about celebration — it was about cultivating a lasting connection between children and the earth.
