 Yoga Day Celebrated with Online Competitions Across India June 2021

On the occasion of International Yoga Day on 21st June 2021, Yash Sewa Samiti (YSS), in collaboration with Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan (NYKS), organized a series of online competitions to spread awareness about the importance of yoga in building a healthy and balanced life. This Pan-India initiative saw active participation from youth and students across the country, channeling their creativity and thoughts around “Yoga for Wellness”—the theme for Yoga Day 2021. Competitions Conducted: A Digital Celebration of Wellness Despite physical distancing, the spirit of unity and well-being was felt across states. The event encouraged youth to practice yoga regularly and inspire their communities to adopt healthier lifestyles.  From Participants “Yoga ka matlab sirf vyayam nahi, ek zindagi jeene ka tarika hai – is baat ko humne aaj likha aur samjha,” said a participant from the essay competition. World Environment Day – Green Action with a Touch of Care .. June 2021

On 5th June 2021, in celebration of World Environment Day, Yash Sewa Samiti (YSS) reaffirmed its commitment to environmental conservation and community wellbeing through a series of simple yet meaningful actions. The day was marked with a dual focus—protecting nature and caring for women’s health—ensuring that our planet and our people both receive the attention they deserve.  Tree Plantation & Distribution Volunteers and community members came together to: Each plant came with a message of sustainability, responsibility, and hope, especially in the wake of the ongoing pandemic. Milk Packets for Women To complement the environmental action, milk packets were distributed to underprivileged women, symbolizing care for health and nourishment. This thoughtful gesture helped bring immediate relief and reminded them that wellness goes hand in hand with awareness. Community Reflection “Pehli baar kisi ne paudha diya toh laga hum bhi kuch badlav laa sakte hain… aur doodh mila toh laga kisi ne sach mein humara socha,” shared a beneficiary woman from Nandram Park. Post 2nd Wave Relief – Reaching the Needy with Ration, Milk & Immunity Kits After the devastating second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, many families were once again pushed into uncertainty and hardship. In response, Yash Sewa Samiti (YSS) swiftly resumed its relief efforts to support the jobless, daily wage earners, domestic workers, and vulnerable families with essential supplies.  Relief Kits Distributed: With compassion and urgency, YSS volunteers distributed: These kits were designed not only to fill empty stomachs but also to help families stay safe and boost immunity during this critical phase. Jal Hai Toh Kal Hai – 2200+ Reached Under National Water Mission Awareness Campaign

From 1st March to 22nd March 2021, Yash Sewa Samiti (YSS) actively participated in the National Water Mission’s “Catch the Rain” campaign with the powerful message:“Catch the rain, where it falls, when it falls.” This month-long awareness drive aimed to educate and engage the community on water conservation, rainwater harvesting, and the importance of protecting our water resources. Outreach Locations: YSS volunteers conducted impactful sessions at: Jal Shapath – A Pledge for Every Drop Over 2200 individuals took the “Jal Shapath” (Water Pledge), promising to: The Jal Shapath ceremony was a powerful moment of unity, responsibility, and hope. From students to senior citizens, everyone pledged to be a “Water Warrior”. Community Response “Pehli baar samjha ki barish ka paani zameen ke neeche jaane dena bhi ek seva hai… humne shapath li hai, isey nibhaayenge,” shared a kirtan mandali member in Vani Vihar. On 9th February 2021, Yash Sewa Samiti (YSS) launched a heartfelt initiative – “Didi Ki Rasoi”, a community kitchen project with a powerful mission: to provide nutritious, home-cooked meals to the underprivileged at just ₹5. This project was designed to support daily wage earners, domestic workers, senior citizens, and migrants—many of whom continue to struggle with food insecurity even after lockdown relief phases. What Makes Didi Ki Rasoi Special: The menu typically includes dal, rice, roti, sabzi, and sometimes a sweet or buttermilk—ensuring both nutrition and taste. Who It Helps: Real Impact “Sirf ₹5 mein itna pyar bhara khana milta hai… lagta hai maa ke haath ka hai,” said one regular beneficiary. On 23rd January, the birth anniversary of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, Yash Sewa Samiti (YSS) organized a vibrant Drawing Competition for children to celebrate patriotism through art and remember one of India’s most courageous freedom fighters. Creativity Meets Patriotism Children from the local community enthusiastically participated, showcasing their creativity around themes such as: Each child expressed their love for the country with colors, imagination, and heartfelt messages through their drawings. Gifts & Refreshments To encourage and appreciate every participant, YSS distributed small gifts and refreshments to all the children. It was not just about competition, but about participation, joy, and learning. Spreading Warmth – Blanket & Ration Distribution to Daily Wagers – Warm Hugs

On 19th January, as the winter cold continued to grip the city, Yash Sewa Samiti (YSS) stepped forward to bring comfort and care to those who needed it the most. In a heartfelt outreach, blankets and dry ration kits were distributed to 50+ daily wage earners and their families, helping them brave both the cold and hunger. A Blanket of Warmth Daily wagers—many of whom work in construction, sanitation, and street vending—struggle to afford warm bedding during harsh winters. YSS distributed thick woollen blankets to offer relief from the cold nights, especially for those living in makeshift shelters or on pavements. Ration Relief Kits Each family also received a ration kit consisting of: These essentials helped ease their daily food insecurity, ensuring families had enough to sustain themselves through the season. National Youth Day – Pledging for Purpose & Progress On 12th January, the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, Yash Sewa Samiti (YSS) celebrated National Youth Day with great enthusiasm and inspiration at its NGO premises. The day paid tribute to Swami Vivekananda’s vision of youth empowerment, nation-building, and selfless service. Honoring the Youth Spirit The celebration began with a brief session on the life and teachings of Swami Vivekananda, highlighting his message of strength, unity, and service. Participants, including youth volunteers and members of the Adharshila Youth Club, came together to recite the National Youth Day Pledge, reaffirming their commitment to: A Special Pledge for Water Conservation Along with the National Youth Pledge, all participants also took a special pledge for water conservation, vowing to: This environmental commitment aimed to send a strong message to the community about sustainable living and youth leadership in protecting natural resources.
