Empowering Women with Hygiene, Ration & Respect – 300 Beneficiaries Across 15+ Communities

In the months of August and September, Yash Sewa Samiti (YSS) undertook a massive outreach initiative to uplift the dignity and well-being of underprivileged women across West Delhi. With pandemic recovery still ongoing and household hardships continuing, 300 women received hygiene and dry ration kits, along with dupattas and stoles as a token of care and empowerment. What Was Distributed: Each beneficiary received a thoughtfully packed kit containing: The goal was not only to provide necessities but also to support health, dignity, and morale among women who often remain the silent sufferers in times of crisis. Areas Covered: YSS volunteers worked tirelessly on-ground to reach women in: These areas include some of the most underserved pockets where women lack consistent access to hygiene products, nutritious food, and livelihood. On the sacred occasion of Raksha Bandhan, a festival symbolizing protection, care, and love, Yash Sewa Samiti (YSS) extended the spirit of the day by protecting and honoring the dignity of women and adolescent girls in need. Hygiene and Dignity First Recognizing the challenges many underprivileged women face in accessing menstrual hygiene products and basic necessities, YSS distributed: These were not just items, but thoughtful gestures wrapped in love and solidarity. Each packet symbolized the promise of protection, much like the traditional rakhi itself. More Than a Celebration The event was a blend of festive warmth and meaningful outreach. Internship 2.0 & Logo Design Competition – Youth Creativity at its Best

In July 2020, with the success of its first online internship, Yash Sewa Samiti (YSS) proudly launched Internship 2.0, once again inviting college students from across the country to contribute, learn, and grow in the social sector during the ongoing pandemic. But this time, the internship brought an exciting twist — a Logo Design Competition, calling upon young creative minds to visualize and design a fresh identity for YSS. Internship 2.0 – Youth Engagement with Purpose Interns were engaged in real-time community issues through tasks like: The program empowered students to become socially responsible leaders and offered them meaningful exposure to ground-level NGO functioning, even in a remote setting. Logo Design Competition – A Creative Challenge To harness the creative energy of the youth, YSS introduced a Logo Design Competition as a special activity during Internship 2.0. Participants were asked to reflect: The response was overwhelming, with dozens of unique, thoughtful entries pouring in from interns. Each design reflected their understanding of the NGO’s mission and their personal creative touch. Recognizing the urgent need for menstrual and personal hygiene products, Punjab National Bank (PNB) extended its support to Yash Sewa Samiti (YSS) by donating 500 sanitary napkins and 500 hand sanitizers. This generous contribution came at a critical time, helping us reach women and girls in underserved communities with essential hygiene supplies and much-needed dignity. Online Internship 1.0 – Youth Engagement & Learning During Lockdown

On 10th June, 2020, in the midst of the pandemic, Yash Sewa Samiti (YSS) launched its first-ever Online Internship Program—a 21-day virtual learning experience for college students across India. Named Internship 1.0, this initiative was designed to empower the youth during a time when physical mobility was restricted, yet the spirit to learn and contribute remained high. Purpose & Vision The internship aimed to: Participants worked on live assignments, awareness campaigns, research tasks, and creative social media content, while gaining an understanding of the nonprofit sector and YSS’s ground-level initiatives. Nationwide Participation Despite being completely online, the internship drew students from multiple colleges and cities, all eager to contribute meaningfully while building their own capacity. Each intern brought fresh ideas, digital energy, and a desire to make a difference—even from home. A Journey of Growth For 21 days, interns were mentored by YSS coordinators, participated in virtual discussions, and completed tasks related to education, health, environment, and livelihood.The program concluded with the distribution of e-certificates and words of appreciation for each intern’s commitment. Creativity in Quarantine – Online Art Competition for Students Across India During the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, as schools shut down and children remained indoors, Yash Sewa Samiti (YSS) took an innovative step to keep young minds inspired and engaged. From 5th June to 8th June, we organized a Pan-India Online Art Competition, encouraging students to express their creativity from the safety of their homes. A Canvas of Hope and Imagination With the theme of hope, resilience, and positive expression, children from various age groups participated with enthusiasm. The competition received entries from across India, turning this virtual event into a celebration of unity, imagination, and youthful energy. Students submitted their artwork online—through email, WhatsApp, and social media. Each piece reflected the unique perspective of a child navigating an unusual and difficult time, and their art spoke volumes about courage, joy, and dreams. Celebrating Young Talent After a careful evaluation by a panel of judges, winners were selected based on creativity, message, and presentation. To appreciate and motivate these budding artists, digital gift vouchers and e-certificates were sent to the winners directly. This not only boosted their morale but also reinforced that talent and learning never stop, not even during a lockdown. MH20 – Menstrual Hygiene Campaign by Yash Sewa Samiti On 12th May 2020, in the midst of the lockdown when access to basic sanitary products had become a challenge, Yash Sewa Samiti (YSS) launched the MH20 – Menstrual Hygiene Campaign online. The aim was simple yet vital – to ensure that adolescent girls and women, especially underprivileged students, did not suffer in silence due to the non-availability of sanitary pads during the pandemic. Reaching Those in Need With schools closed and supply chains disrupted, many girls were unable to get their monthly sanitary supplies. YSS stepped in to: Why MH20? Menstrual hygiene is not a privilege—it’s a basic necessity. Lack of access leads not only to health risks but also to loss of dignity and comfort for young girls and women. Support That Matters The campaign was powered by generous donors and volunteers who ensured timely procurement and distribution, despite the lockdown restrictions. Dignity for Labour – A Cleanliness Drive Honouring the Hands That Build Our Nation

On the eve of Labour Day, on 6th May, Yash Sewa Samiti launched a unique and heartfelt initiative to honour and support jobless labourers affected by the ongoing lockdown. Under our community pride campaign “I Love My Space”, we invited around 40 unemployed daily wage workers from the local area for a Cleanliness Drive in Vani Vihar.  I Love My Space: A Drive with Purpose These labourers, who had lost their jobs due to the pandemic, were not only given the opportunity to contribute meaningfully through this cleanliness effort but were also reminded of the dignity and value of their labour. With gloves, brooms, and garbage bags, they took ownership of the community space, cleaning streets and public areas with pride. A Small Gesture of Honour After the drive, all participants were honoured and appreciated by the YSS team. Each worker was provided with: This was not just a reward, but a symbol of respect, gratitude, and solidarity with the very hands that contribute to building and sustaining our society. Real Impact One participant shared, “Kaam se toh sammaan milta hai… aaj lag raha hai hamari mehnat ki kadar hai.”  Our Commitment Yash Sewa Samiti stands firmly by the belief that labour deserves more than wages—it deserves dignity. Weekly Distribution of Family Kits and Cooked Food for Daily Wagers – May 2020 Relief  Effort The ongoing lockdown during May 2020 continued to affect the lives of daily wage earners, many of whom were left struggling to meet even the most basic needs for their families. In response, Yash Sewa Samiti expanded its efforts to provide weekly family kits and cooked meals to those hit hardest by the crisis. 120+ Family Kits Distributed Weekly Every week, more than 120 families received comprehensive relief kits, each containing: These kits were designed not just to feed, but to protect and strengthen health during the pandemic. The addition of energy boosters, hygiene items, and masks reflected a thoughtful approach to overall wellbeing with the support of Goonj Cooked Meals for Immediate Relief In parallel, freshly prepared meals (dal, rice, chapati, sabji) were also distributed to those who had no means to cook or lacked fuel and utensils. The goal was to ensure no family slept hungry, even for a single day. From the Field “Ration ka samaan mil gaya, par cooked khana milna aur bhi zaroori tha jab chulha jalane ki bhi halat nahi thi,” shared one daily wager.
