On 9th February 2021, Yash Sewa Samiti (YSS) launched a heartfelt initiative – “Didi Ki Rasoi”, a community kitchen project with a powerful mission: to provide nutritious, home-cooked meals to the underprivileged at just ₹5.
This project was designed to support daily wage earners, domestic workers, senior citizens, and migrants—many of whom continue to struggle with food insecurity even after lockdown relief phases.
What Makes Didi Ki Rasoi Special:
- Delicious, hygienic, and fresh meals prepared daily by women volunteers
- Each meal served for ₹5 only, ensuring dignity, not charity
- A chance for women (Didis) to also engage in community service and self-reliance
The menu typically includes dal, rice, roti, sabzi, and sometimes a sweet or buttermilk—ensuring both nutrition and taste.
Who It Helps:
- Domestic helps who often skip meals to save money
- Daily wagers and rickshaw pullers unable to afford cooked food
- Elderly poor individuals without family support
- Anyone in need of a warm, affordable meal with respect
Real Impact
“Sirf ₹5 mein itna pyar bhara khana milta hai… lagta hai maa ke haath ka hai,” said one regular beneficiary.
Gratitude & Support
This initiative continues with the help of individual donors and compassionate volunteers, many of whom also donate ingredients or sponsor a day’s meal in memory or celebration.
Because no one should sleep hungry—not when we can cook with love and serve with dignity. Didi Ki Rasoi is not just a kitchen—it’s a movement of compassion.
