MH20 – Menstrual Hygiene Campaign by Yash Sewa Samiti
On 12th May 2020, in the midst of the lockdown when access to basic sanitary products had become a challenge, Yash Sewa Samiti (YSS) launched the MH20 – Menstrual Hygiene Campaign online.
The aim was simple yet vital – to ensure that adolescent girls and women, especially underprivileged students, did not suffer in silence due to the non-availability of sanitary pads during the pandemic.
Reaching Those in Need
With schools closed and supply chains disrupted, many girls were unable to get their monthly sanitary supplies. YSS stepped in to:
- Identify those in urgent need through online networks and local contacts
- Arrange sanitary pads for underprivileged students and women in vulnerable communities
- Distribute them directly while maintaining all safety protocols
Why MH20?
Menstrual hygiene is not a privilege—it’s a basic necessity. Lack of access leads not only to health risks but also to loss of dignity and comfort for young girls and women.
Support That Matters
The campaign was powered by generous donors and volunteers who ensured timely procurement and distribution, despite the lockdown restrictions.
Through MH20, YSS reaffirmed its commitment to women’s health, dignity, and equality—even in the most challenging of times.
Because dignity doesn’t pause during a pandemic.
