Empowering Communities Through Awareness: Outreach Programs in Anganwadis (Jan–Feb 2024)

From January to February 2024, a series of impactful awareness sessions were conducted across anganwadis in Shiv Vihar, Vikas Nagar, Bharthal Village, Nawada Village, and Vani Vihar—reaching women, adolescents, and young girls with essential knowledge and resources for a healthier and more empowered life.

 Menstrual Hygiene & Dignity

One of the core focuses of the initiative was raising awareness about menstrual hygiene. Through open discussions and interactive sessions:

  • Myths and taboos around menstruation were addressed
  • Importance of hygiene and safe practices was explained
  • Sanitary pads were distributed, ensuring access to basic necessities

These efforts helped normalize conversations and promote dignity and confidence among young girls and women.

 Nutrition for Better Living

The sessions also emphasized the importance of balanced nutrition:

  • Awareness about healthy eating habits using locally available food
  • Guidance on nutrition for growing children, adolescent girls, and mothers
  • Addressing issues like anemia and overall well-being

Participants gained practical knowledge to improve their daily diets and health outcomes.

Digital Literacy & SHG Formation

Recognizing the importance of digital inclusion, participants were introduced to:

  • Basics of digital literacy and smartphone usage
  • How to access online resources and services
  • The concept and benefits of forming Self-Help Groups (SHGs)

Women were encouraged to come together, save collectively, and explore livelihood opportunities—paving the way for financial independence.

Building Stronger Communities

These sessions were not just about information—they were about transformation:

  • Creating safe spaces for discussion and learning
  • Encouraging women to take leadership roles
  • Strengthening community support systems
