The nationwide lockdown announced on March 22 left thousands of daily wage earners and domestic helps without work or income overnight. In response to this urgent humanitarian crisis, Yash Sewa Samiti stepped forward to support those who serve others quietly every day — our domestic helpers.
Understanding the challenges faced by these hardworking individuals, we launched a Dry Ration Distribution Drive shortly after the lockdown began, ensuring that no home-maker is left hungry during this tough time.
What’s in the Kit?
Each ration kit was thoughtfully curated to provide essential nutrition and support for families. The kits included:
- Wheat flour (atta)
- Rice
- Sugar
- Tea leaves
- Pulses (dal)
- Cooking oil
A total of 35 domestic workers and their families benefitted from this initiative, giving them not just supplies but hope and assurance that the community stands with them.
A Helping Hand During Uncertainty
Many of the women shared how they were unable to visit their employers’ homes or earn wages during the lockdown. With no savings or backup, the ration kits came as a huge relief.
“Ab kam se kam kitchen mein roti toh banegi,” said one tearful recipient.
A Heartfelt Thanks
We thank our generous donors and volunteers who made this possible, even amidst restricted movement and safety concerns. By taking all precautions, our team ensured a safe and dignified distribution.
Yash Sewa Samiti remains committed to standing by the invisible pillars of our society – domestic workers, daily wage earners, and marginalized families – especially during times of crisis.
