Self-Defence Camp for Girls – Saksham : Building Strength, Confidence & Awareness

Empowerment begins with safety — and to take a meaningful step in that direction, Yash Sewa Samiti organized a 15-day Self-Defence Camp for girls and young women at Vani Vihar Park. The initiative combined physical strength, mental clarity, and intellectual development through a variety of activities.

Highlights of the Camp

Self-Defence Training:
Girls were taught basic and advanced self-defence techniques by experienced trainers. These included methods to respond to real-life situations such as street harassment and personal safety threats. The training instilled confidence, courage, and a sense of control over one’s safety.

Yoga Sessions:
Each morning began with energizing yoga and meditation to improve physical fitness, mental peace, and emotional resilience. Yoga instructors guided participants through asanas focused on flexibility, balance, and stress relief — building a calm and strong foundation.

Intellectual Speeches & Awareness Talks:
Renowned intellectuals, social activists, and motivational speakers were invited to address the girls. Topics included:

  • Women’s rights and legal awareness
  • Importance of education and self-reliance
  • Nutrition and health for adolescent girls
  • Building confidence and leadership in young women

These talks sparked inspiration and opened new perspectives for many participants.

Impact of the Self-Defence Camp:

  • Over 60 girls gained hands-on self-defence skills and improved fitness.
  • Boosted self-confidence and reduced fear of stepping out independently.
  • Encouraged girls to adopt yoga and mindfulness in daily life.
  • Empowered them with knowledge of their rights, health, and emotional wellbeing.
  • Created a strong sense of sisterhood and support among participants.

💬 Message from Yash Sewa Samiti:
“When a girl learns to protect herself, she breaks the chain of fear. Our aim is to empower each girl not just physically but mentally and emotionally too.”

This initiative reaffirmed our commitment to Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao and project Saksham, the mission to create safer, stronger, and more self-reliant young women.
